Large Handheld Dispenser for Foam and Drop Spraying

Restoring natural areas to fulfill ecological processes often requires precision tools that can apply herbicide to targeted undesirable species. We have used Green Shoots products in the past and often require the larger volume contained within the large handheld dispenser. The design has changed over the years and for the better. The associated care and use instructions are really helpful in maintaining this tool.

Once I figured out to remove the dip tube and switch with the straight dip tube and breather tube attachment, it worked perfectly. Very easy to use and clean. I have large patches of Japanese Knotweed scattered on our property, I'm ready to start eradicating this invasive plant with this tool.

The foamer works well but you do have to pump it a lot so it has enough air to make the foam. It would really be nice if it was battery operated with a rechargeable battery. The customer service is great!

I'm a professional perennial young plant salesperson and I raise native and perennial seeds for use in the horticultural trade. I'm a small operator with minimal labor and equipment resources. Ordered the large foam handheld dispenser after enjoying the small one but looking for more volume. Received and used. Before emptying one tank it started leaking out of the pump body and got herbicide all over my hands, and onto desirable vegetation. Was frustrated as that was exactly why I was trying to get away from spray bottles! Emailed customer service and they hand me trouble shoot a few things before just sending a replacement pump unit at no cost. They absolutely stand behind their products. I have now used many tanks through it without issue. I'm able to precisely remove tough weeds (Burdock, nettle, curly dock) from my display beds and seed beds with no harm to the desirable plants. Works great, ordering a second.

Using a pesticide is never our first choice of control if we can use physical labor to control an aggressive plant, but an advancing Black Locust tree stand on our new land made us draw the line. Last year we cut the full grown trees and painted the cut stumps with Triclopyr using a brush. This was very effective, but we knew sprouts along the widespread root system would show up this year.

When we discovered this sprayer product and read the extensive information available on this website, we knew we had a better way to use the absolute minimum of chemical to achieve our goals. This device, coupled with the blue foaming agent, made it easy for one person to make the cut while the other person held the sapling, pulled it away, and immediately applied Triclopyr onto the cut stump. The blue dye helped me know where I had already been. The tube that emerges from the sprayer is stiff, so you can target your stump easily.

It's impossible to prevent some chemical from accidentally getting onto your clothing. I wore those lime green bib pants the highway department guys wear. Thorns rarely penetrate them and they are repellent so chemical doesn't soak through. I wore a leather glove on the hand that held the saplings and a nitrile glove inside a dishwashing glove on the sprayer hand.
